Licence
SSF Slide Elements · last updated 16 September 2026
SSF Slide Elements is open source under the MIT licence. This page carries that
licence, the notices for the two libraries that ship inside the pane, and the answer to the
question most people actually have — what you may do with the slides it makes.
Three different things, and they are easy to mix up
- The slides you insert are yours, with no condition attached. See below.
- The add-in — installing and using it — is governed by the
terms of use.
- The source code is governed by the MIT licence on this page. A licence
telling a developer they may fork a repository is not one telling a user what they may do with
the product, which is why there are two.
The slides you insert
Yours, outright. An element you insert becomes ordinary PowerPoint shapes in
your own file. There is no attribution to keep, no watermark, no notice to carry, and no
restriction on the presentation you build with it — personal or commercial, internal or
published, sold or given away.
Nothing we publish later reaches back into a deck you have already made.

The MIT licence covers the code. It does not cover the element library in the
template/ decks, which is the owner's own design work and is published here as part
of the add-in rather than as a template pack to redistribute.
What ships inside the pane
The pane is built from this project's own source plus two third-party
libraries, both bundled into the file your browser downloads. They are listed here because a
reader is entitled to know what is running, not because either licence requires a hosted page.
JSZip 3.10.2 — MIT or GPL-3.0-or-later
Reads and writes the .pptx package, which is a zip. Dual-licensed by its authors;
we take it under the MIT option.
github.com/Stuk/jszip
@xmldom/xmldom 0.9.12 — MIT
Parses and writes the XML parts inside that package.

What does not ship inside the pane
Microsoft's office.js is loaded at run time from Microsoft's own content delivery
network, as every Office add-in is required to do. It is Microsoft's, under Microsoft's terms, and
is not redistributed by us.
The fonts and colours an inserted element arrives with come from your own presentation's theme,
or from the library's, and no font is bundled or redistributed by this add-in.
